My Family I am a happily married mother of four grown children ages 18 - 24. My husband and children bring an amazing amount of joy to my life, and I am very proud of them all. They provide a huge amount of support and understanding for the work that I do. I could not do it without them!
My Path My journey began with the birth of my first son in 1996, and the realization that I did not know as much as I thought. I began to research and ask questions and, after the birth of my first daughter, I decided to become a childbirth educator. I wanted to empower and encourage women to trust the birth process and listen to their own instincts. This quickly led to my work as a doula. In this role, I was able to comfort and advocate for women so they would be able to focus on their labor in a hospital setting. In 2004, after my first home birth experience as a midwife assistant to Ronnie Falcao LM,MS, I was convinced that I was being led down my own path to becoming a midwife. In 2007 I enrolled in National Midwifery Institute, and graduated in 2011. I apprenticed under Yelena Kolodji, CNM, Faith Gibson, LM, CPM, and the midwives at Mercy Maternity Center in Davao, Philippines. These midwives, along with many other amazing midwives locally, have provided me with a depth of knowledge and wisdom for which I will forever be grateful. We are never finished learning.
